The Foundation
Black Lotus Foundation
A first opportunity. A future of possibility.
Every young person deserves the chance to discover what they’re capable of.
Black Lotus Foundation is being built to help young people facing barriers to opportunity develop practical skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging through coffee.
Our vision begins with barista training—and extends to leadership, meaningful work, and connection.
More than learning to make coffee.
A first opportunity can mean having someone trust you with a responsibility, recognise your potential, and support you as you learn.
Through our planned training programs, we aim to bring together:
Practical coffee skills: Brewing, drink preparation, food safety, and customer service.
Readiness for work: Communication, teamwork, reliability, and problem-solving.
Personal growth: Mindful awareness, confidence, and the courage to take the next step.
Mentorship and connection: Relationships with people and businesses who can support each participant’s development.
We want young people to leave with skills they can use, relationships they can build on, and greater confidence in their own choices.
From soil to cup—and back to community.
Our roots in Vietnam connect us to the families, landscapes, and work behind every cup.
That connection shapes our approach to learning. We envision experiences that help young people understand coffee from the ground up: caring for the land, respecting the harvest, preparing the coffee, and welcoming the person who receives it.
Each step offers a chance to practise care, responsibility, and connection.
Our commitment
Compassion, Authenticity, Integrity, Impact, and Inclusivity guide the Foundation we’re building.
That means listening to young people, designing programs around their needs, and being accountable for what we deliver.
As our work develops, we intend to share what we’ve done, what we’ve learned, and where we need to improve. We will look beyond participation numbers to understand whether young people gain useful skills and move toward opportunities that matter to them.
Help create the next opportunity.
We welcome conversations with educators, youth organisations, cafés, employers, mentors, and community partners who share this commitment.
You may be able to offer training space, equipment, practical experience, mentorship, or a pathway into work.
Together, we can build places where young people feel welcome, discover their abilities, and take meaningful steps toward their future.
